Interval Meters
The future is empowering.
If you generate electricity from solar, you can request an interval meter. These magic boxes are changing electricity.
Request an interval meter.
In Alberta, the Utilities Act and regulation states that anyone with a solar panel has the right to an interval meter.
Ask your distributor.
Your distributor may be EPCOR, ENMAX, ATCO, or Fortis Alberta. Some municipalities and Rural Electrification Associations also manage distribution.
Lower your monthly costs.
If you have a solar panel, the interval meter replaces the traditional meter.
Traditional cumulative meters track how much power you use throughout the month—nothing more. The cumulative meter shows averages. It doesn’t show when you consumed it or what the price of electricity was.
The new interval meter records what you actually use every minute.
With the interval meter, there is no more guesswork. Your distributor receives accurate reports that track your usage in real time.
Capture the sun’s energy.
When you generate your own electricity and have an interval meter to track what you buy and sell, you take control of your costs.
An interval meter lets you directly manage the cost of your consumption and positions you to become part of the electricity marketplace, earning a high rate when you export and a lower rate for the power you consume.
